Description
AMLODIPINE (AMLOTRUST) 5 MG TABLETS (30’s) are a generic form of amlodipine besylate, a calcium channel blocker used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension) and stable angina (chest pain). Each tablet contains 5 mg of amlodipine. It works by relaxing and widening blood vessels, improving blood flow and reducing the heart’s workload. This helps to lower blood pressure and relieve chest pain.
Indications
- Treatment of hypertension to reduce the risk of stroke, heart attack, and kidney damage.
- Relief of angina by improving blood flow and reducing chest discomfort.
Dosage & Administration
- The usual starting dose is 5 mg once daily, which may be increased to 10 mg based on patient response.
- Elderly patients or those with liver impairment may start with a lower dose of 2.5 mg once daily.
Take the medication consistently at the same time daily, with or without food.
Side Effects
Common side effects include:
- Swelling of ankles or feet (edema)
- Dizziness
- Flushing
- Fatigue
- Palpitations (awareness of heartbeat)
