AMLODIPINE (AMOLAB-5) 5 MG TABLETS (50’s) are a generic form of amlodipine besylate, a calcium channel blocker used to manage high blood pressure (hypertension) and stable angina (chest pain). Each tablet contains 5 mg of amlodipine. It works by relaxing and widening blood vessels, improving blood flow and reducing the heart’s workload, which helps lower blood pressure and ease chest pain.
Indications
- Treatment of hypertension to reduce risks of stroke, heart attack, and kidney damage.
- Management of angina by improving blood flow and relieving chest discomfort.
Dosage & Administration
- Typical starting dose is 5 mg once daily; dose may be adjusted based on patient response.
- Elderly patients or those with liver impairment may start at a lower dose.
Take the medication consistently at the same time each day, with or without food.
Side Effects
Common side effects include:
- Swelling of ankles or feet (edema)
