Description
AMLODIPINE (VARINIL) 5 MG TABLETS (112’s) are a generic formulation of amlodipine besylate, a calcium channel blocker used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension) and stable angina (chest pain). Each tablet contains 5 mg of amlodipine. It works by relaxing and widening blood vessels, which improves blood flow and reduces the heart’s workload. This helps lower blood pressure and relieve chest pain.
Indications
- Treatment of hypertension to reduce risks of stroke, heart attack, and kidney damage.
- Management of angina by improving blood flow and reducing chest pain.
Dosage & Administration
- Typical starting dose is 5 mg once daily, which may be increased to 10 mg based on patient response.
- Elderly patients or those with liver impairment may start with 2.5 mg once daily.
Take the tablet at the same time every day, with or without food.
Side Effects
Common side effects include:
- Swelling of ankles or feet
- Dizziness
