AMLODIPINE (VARINIL) 5 MG TABLETS (28’s) are a generic version of amlodipine besylate, a calcium channel blocker used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension) and stable angina (chest pain). Each tablet contains 5 mg of amlodipine. It works by relaxing and widening blood vessels, improving blood flow and reducing the heart’s workload. This helps to lower blood pressure and relieve chest pain.

Indications

• Management of hypertension to reduce risks of stroke, heart attack, and kidney issues.
• Relief of angina by improving blood flow and reducing chest discomfort.

Dosage & Administration

• The typical starting dose for adults is 5 mg once daily, which may be increased to 10 mg based on patient response.
• Lower doses (2.5 mg) may be recommended for elderly patients or those with liver problems.

Take consistently at the same time daily, with or without food.

Side Effects

Common side effects can include:

• Swelling of ankles or feet (edema)
• Dizziness
• Flushing
• Fatigue
• Palpitations (heartbeat awareness)
