AMLODIPINE (VARINIL) 5 MG TABLETS (28’s) are a generic version of amlodipine besylate, a calcium channel blocker used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension) and stable angina (chest pain). Each tablet contains 5 mg of amlodipine. It works by relaxing and widening blood vessels, improving blood flow and reducing the heart’s workload. This helps to lower blood pressure and relieve chest pain.
Indications
- Management of hypertension to reduce risks of stroke, heart attack, and kidney issues.
- Relief of angina by improving blood flow and reducing chest discomfort.
Dosage & Administration
- The typical starting dose for adults is 5 mg once daily, which may be increased to 10 mg based on patient response.
- Lower doses (2.5 mg) may be recommended for elderly patients or those with liver problems.
Take consistently at the same time daily, with or without food.
Side Effects

- Swelling of ankles or feet (edema)
