Overview:
Atacand contains candesartan cilexetil, an angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB) used to treat high blood pressure (hypertension) and heart failure. It works by relaxing blood vessels, allowing blood to flow more easily, which helps lower blood pressure and reduces the workload on the heart.
Indications:

Hypertension: For the treatment of high blood pressure in adults and children aged 1 to less than 17 years.

Dosage and Administration:

Adults: The usual recommended starting dose is 16 mg once daily. The dose may be adjusted based on individual response, with a typical range of 8 mg to 32 mg per day.

Common Side Effects:

Dizziness or lightheadedness, especially after the first dose.

Upper respiratory tract infections.

Serious Side Effects:

Low blood pressure (hypotension).

Electrolyte imbalances (e.g., low potassium or sodium levels).

Kidney problems.

Allergic reactions, including swelling of the face, lips, tongue, or throat.
Precautions:

Not recommended during pregnancy.

Use with caution in patients with kidney or liver problems.
