Azicin contains Azithromycin 500 mg, a broad-spectrum macrolide antibiotic used to treat a variety of bacterial infections.

💊 Dosage

• Adults typically take 500 mg once daily for 3 days, or 500 mg on day 1 followed by 250 mg daily for 4 additional days

• Shake off-coated tablets may be taken with or without food; consider taking with food if it causes stomach upset

• For single-dose treatments (e.g., chancroid), a 1 g dose may be prescribed

• Complete the full course even if you feel better early

⚠️ Precautions

• Not effective against viral infections

• Avoid if allergic to macrolides like erythromycin or clarithromycin

• Use caution if you have liver, kidney, heart rhythm issues, or low potassium or magnesium

• May cause QT prolongation—inform your doctor if taking heart medications

⚠️ Possible Side Effects

• Common: nausea, diarrhea, abdominal discomfort, headache

• Less common but serious: severe diarrhea from C. difficile, liver problems, allergic reactions such as rash or breathing difficulty
