Description

Bena Expectorant Syrup 120 ml is an oral solution formulated to help relieve chest congestion and productive coughs by loosening thick, stubborn mucus and soothing persistent coughing.

Composition (per 5 ml)

• Diphenhydramine hydrochloride 14 mg – A mild antihistamine that helps soothe irritated airways and reduce coughing

• Ammonium chloride 135 mg – An expectorant that thins and liquefies mucus to ease its removal

Indications

Bena syrup is suitable for:

• Productive coughs (wet cough) with thick mucus

• Chest congestion from colds or respiratory infections

• Nasal passage congestion and throat irritation

Dosage & Administration

• Adults and children ≥ 12 years: 5–10 ml every 4–6 hours (maximum 60 ml in 24 hours)

• Children 6–12 years: 2.5–5 ml every 4–6 hours

• Children 2–5 years: 2.5 ml every 4–6 hours

• Under 2 years: Not recommended

Shake well before each use and swallow with water. Use the lowest effective dose for the shortest necessary duration.

Storage

Store at room temperature below 25 °C in a dry place away from direct sunlight. Keep the bottle sealed and out of reach of children.

Precautions

• May cause drowsiness; avoid driving or operating machinery if affected

• Use caution in individuals with high blood pressure, glaucoma, prostate enlargement, asthma, or kidney/liver conditions

• Use during pregnancy or breastfeeding only under medical guidance

• Avoid concurrent use with alcohol or sedative medications

Side Effects

Common side effects may include:

• Drowsiness, dizziness

• Dry mouth, throat irritation

• Nausea

• Occasionally mild headache
