Description

C-LEX DS Cephalexin Oral Suspension (100ml)

Active Ingredient: Cephalexin Monohydrate
Class: First-generation cephalosporin antibiotic


Indications

C-LEX DS is used for treating bacterial infections including:

  • Upper respiratory tract infections (e.g., tonsillitis, pharyngitis)

  • Otitis media (middle ear infections)

  • Skin and soft tissue infections

  • Bone and joint infections

  • Urinary tract infections (e.g., cystitis, prostatitis)

  • Dental infections


Dosage and Administration

  • Adults: Usually 250 mg to 500 mg every 6 hours. For some infections, 500 mg every 12 hours may be given. Severe infections may require up to 3–6 g daily.

  • Children: Dosage ranges between 25–100 mg/kg/day divided into doses, not exceeding 4 g daily.

Contraindications

  • Known allergy to cephalexin or other cephalosporins

  • Allergy to penicillins or other beta-lactam antibiotics


Precautions

  • Inform your doctor if you have any history of antibiotic allergies

  • Use cautiously if you have kidney problems; dosage adjustment may be needed

  • Consult your healthcare provider before use during pregnancy or breastfeeding


Side Effects

Common side effects:

  • Nausea, vomiting

  • Diarrhea

  • Upset stomach

  • Stomach pain

Rare but serious side effects:

  • Severe allergic reactions (rash, itching, breathing difficulty)

  • Severe diarrhea

  • Jaundice (yellowing of skin or eyes)

If any serious reactions occur, stop use and seek medical advice immediately.

  • Store in a cool, dry place below 25°C

  • Protect from direct sunlight and moisture
