Description
FILGRASTRIM (COLISTIM) Injection 30 MIU is a high-potency antibiotic injection used primarily in the treatment of serious Gram-negative bacterial infections, particularly those caused by multi-drug resistant (MDR) organisms. The active ingredient, Colistimethate Sodium (commonly referred to as Colistin), is a polymyxin-class antibiotic known for its effectiveness against Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Acinetobacter baumannii, Klebsiella pneumoniae, and other resistant pathogens.
This 30 million international unit (30 MIU) formulation is typically administered intravenously under strict medical supervision in hospital or intensive care settings. It is commonly used when other antibiotics have failed, especially in critical care, ventilator-associated pneumonia, or sepsis due to MDR bacteria.
FILGRASTRIM (COLISTIM) should be used with caution, especially in patients with renal impairment, and dosage adjustments may be necessary. It is often included as part of a combination therapy approach to enhance efficacy and reduce the risk of resistance.
