Indications:
Jentin Met is prescribed for the management of Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus in adults. It is used:

As monotherapy when diet and exercise alone do not provide adequate glycemic control.

In combination with other antidiabetic agents, such as metformin, when diet and exercise plus the other agents do not provide adequate glycemic control.
Mechanism of Action:
Sitagliptin, the active ingredient in Jentin Met, is a Dipeptidyl Peptidase-4 (DPP-4) inhibitor. It works by enhancing the body’s own ability to lower blood sugar levels by increasing insulin release and decreasing glucagon levels in the circulation in a glucose-dependent manner.
Dosage and Administration:

The recommended dose of Jentin Met is 50 mg once daily, taken with or without food.

It is important to take the medication at the same time each day to help remember.

Swallow the tablet whole; do not split, chew, or crush.

Precautions and Contraindications:

Not recommended for patients with Type 1 Diabetes Mellitus or for the treatment of diabetic ketoacidosis.

Use with caution in patients with a history of pancreatitis.

Not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding unless clearly needed.

Patients with moderate to severe renal impairment should not use this medication.

Store at 20°C to 25°C (68°F to 77°F); excursions permitted to 15°C to 30°C (59°F to 86°F).
