Product Overview
Lipiget 40 mg Tablets contain atorvastatin, a potent lipid-lowering medication from the statin class. This dose is intended for adults with significant cholesterol elevation or high cardiovascular risk that requires more intensive lipid management.
Mechanism of Action
Atorvastatin inhibits the enzyme HMG‑CoA reductase, crucial in cholesterol synthesis in the liver. This action leads to significantly reduced levels of LDL (bad cholesterol) and total cholesterol, moderate reduction in triglycerides, and a modest increase in HDL (good cholesterol).
Indications
Lipiget 40 mg is prescribed for individuals with:
- High LDL cholesterol or mixed dyslipidemia
- Familial hypercholesterolemia
- Hypertriglyceridemia
- Primary prevention in high‑risk cardiovascular patients
- Adolescents (10–17 years) with homozygous familial hypercholesterolemia (as determined by a physician)
Dosage & Administration
